19 Aug Wedding at The Del Mar Powerhouse Community Center
Brynna and Ben’s wedding at The Del Mar Powerhouse Community Center was fantastic! They wanted a fun, yet laid-back evening. I love the ocean view from the Powerhouse. It fit this awesome couple’s vibe perfectly. They had a nice ceremony out on the patio overlooking Del Mar Beach. Then I played their requested 60s style mix for cocktail hour. After cocktail hour, the guests were seated and I announced the grand entrance for Bryanna & Ben to the “Best Day Of My Life” by American Authors. They did this straight into their first dance of “California Girls” by The Beach Boys.
After their first dance, we moved on to dinner. Since Brynna and Ben wanted guests’ requests, I went around and got music requests from all the tables. This helped me get a feel for the musical tastes of the room. Following dinner, Brynna and Ben did a thank-you toast. That led into Brynna and her dad, Mike’s, dance to “The Call” by Regina Specktor. Then Ben and his mom, Kelly, did their dance to “Forever Young” by Rod Stewart.
Once the formalities were completed, the party fun begin. I played an upbeat mix of oldies, top 40 and some of the requested 90s throwbacks. The dance floor was packed the whole time. It was a really enjoyable crowd! One of the highlights was when Ben’s buddies requested his favorite band, Dead Ramones, which all the guys really got into. It was such a fun night. :)
Here’s an awesome five-star review Brynna gave me on WeddingWire. I wish both Brynna and Ben a fantastic future together!
DJ Will was great! I completely forgot to pull together a list of songs that I liked (he has a great website where you can request songs, I just got overwhelmed with other wedding details) and he pulled together an AMAZING dance party! All of my friends and family were raving for days!!
