08 Feb Isabella & Matthew’s February Wedding at Scripps Seaside Forum
I recently had the pleasure of DJing Isabella & Matthew’s cocktail hour and reception at Scripps Seaside Forum. The atmosphere was warm and tropical, which, mixed with the fun Ratpack playlist we provided, lent a fun casual vibe to cocktail hour. The large windows at the venue offered the guests wonderful views of the courtyard foliage and the ocean.
After cocktail hour wrapped up, the crowd moved to the reception space. The ballroom had been decorated beautifully with lots of candles and fern branches. We also provided some uplighting to mimic the soft light from the candles throughout the space. The bridal party was very large at this event, so it made for a fun grand entrance to “Celebrate” by Cool and the Gang. After warming up the crowd with that, Isabella and Matthew entered to “This Will Be” by Natalie Cole
After the entrance, we did some fun Italian customs to honor Isabella’s heritage. One of which was the Tarantella, an Italian folk dance. We also played Italian music during dinner. I thought it was a nice homage to her roots. Once the guests were done with dinner and admiring the stunning sunset outside, a few family members and friends gave some heartfelt speeches, and Isabella and Matthew had their first dance. After they had a chance to dance with their parents, the floor was open to the guests. We played a fun mix of 70’s, 80’s and Top 40 hits to keep the party going.
The cake-cutting ceremony gave the guests a break from dancing and a chance to try some of the delicious vegan cake. A first for me, and a unique and delicious choice!
After cake, and the bouquet and garter tosses, the dancing continued … not only until the event was over, but after, as the guests moved to celebrate further at the hotel where they were staying. All in all a wonderful night! I wish Isabella and Matthew the best!
