23 Aug Sarah and Dalton’s July Horton Grand Wedding
Downtown San Diego has many beautiful, historic buildings that are perfect for weddings. Sarah and Dalton chose the Horton Grand Hotel for their big day. Their Horton Grand wedding ceremony was held in the courtyard under the trees and surrounded by the beautiful brickwork of the historic site. After the ceremony, guests were ushered to an alleyway for cocktail hour, which continued the old industrial feel of the wedding and was very unique.
While guests were enjoying refreshments, the courtyard was being flipped into the reception space. Once everyone was settled, Sarah and Dalton made their grand entrance to “24k Magic” by Bruno Mars and went into their first dance to “Perfect” by Ed Sheeran and Beyonce before food was served.
When everyone had eaten, it was time for the traditional dances. Sarah danced with her father to “Butterfly Kisses” by Bob Carlisle, and Dalton danced with his mother to “When I Need You” by Leo Sayer. From there, the dance floor was officially open! The group was really energetic, and we got to play a wide range of music from 70’s and 80’s classics to top 40 and hip-hop. The only thing the couple didn’t want was for line dances to be played. There was a brief break in the dance party for the cake cutting of the topper, and the couple had an awesome offering of donuts for the guests instead of cake. A fun change from the traditional cake table.
All in all, it was another great event to DJ. It’s so wonderful to get to help couples realize their dream weddings through music! We are truly blessed to get to do what we do. So thank you, Sarah and Dalton, for letting us be a part of your day! We wish you all the best on this new journey you’ve started together.
