16 Feb Autumn Wedding at The Dana Mission Bay
James and Erin celebrated their autumn wedding at The Dana Mission Bay. They started with a very nice ceremony on the Sunset Lawn. “Harvest Moon” by Neil Young began the processional for the wedding party. “Here There and Everywhere” by the Beatles played for the bridal processional, then they chose “I’ve Been in Love” by the Jungle for the recessional.
A fun touch from the couple was the use of team jerseys for guests to sign instead of a guestbook. They have a special way to commemorate their beautiful day!
For the grand entrance, we introduced the family along with the wedding party. They walked in as a big group, and we went into “Thunderstruck” by AC/DC.
James and Erin chose “Something” by the Beatles song for their first dance. They’re big Beatles fans. Then the father of the bride made a welcome speech.
During dinner they had a unique way of releasing tables, using songs. They had movie-themed songs, such as from Wicked or Star Wars, for the table names. When DJ Will played a clip from the table’s song, those guests knew it was time to go up to the buffet. All the couples had a lot of fun with that. It was a good energy and everyone really enjoyed it!
After dinner we had toasts, then went into the father-daughter dance set to “In My Life” by the Beatles. Then DJ Will put together a good dancing set of about 2 1/2 hours. All in all, it was a great mix. The couple contributed a good dance list that included a whole variety of genres. One crowd-pleaser was this fun conga line!
They went with some standard wedding classics like “Unchained Melody” by the Righteous Brothers. But they also added in a lot of alternative choices that worked. DJ Will mixed that in well with their crowd!
It was a good night all around, all their friends danced, and everyone had a great time. It was one of the most fun weddings we’ve DJ’d this year! Thank you for having us as part of your autumn wedding at The Dana Mission Bay.
