Hi, I’m DJ Will Chitwood, owner and head DJ of Dancing DJ Productions. It all started in 2000 in Colorado Springs, Colorado, when a friend started inviting me to his DJ events. At the time I was a competitive pairs figure skater for Team U.S.A, but I usually had my weekends free for events. It wasn’t long before I realized I loved DJing!
In 2001 I started my own company, Dancing DJ Productions, which symbolized my goal of energizing people to dance and have a great time! In 2007 I retired from competitive skating and decided to move to San Diego, California. I fell in love with Southern California when traveling for skating, and moving there provided me with year-round DJing opportunities.
I had a very important year in 2009! That year I married my beautiful wife, Chea. Plus, I graduated with a B.A. in communications and a minor in music industry studies from Prescott College’s distance program. I also released an original electronic music album, Journey.
Since then Chea and I have had two beautiful girls, Zoey and Sophia! They are bundles of joy, and I’m so blessed to have such a fantastic family. I’ve also grown Dancing DJ Productions into one of the biggest and most reviewed DJ companies in the San Diego area!
Over the past 23 years of DJing & MCing, I’ve personally DJ’d thousands of events. I primarily serve Southern California, but I’ve DJ’d as far away as Chicago and England. While my DJ company does a large number of events, I personally love DJing and still DJ over 75 weddings and events a year for people that request me!
People always ask what kind of music I like. The truth is I really like most types of music. Usually, in the car, I listen to top-40, hip-hop, classic rock, EDM, and alt rock to give you an idea. But when I’m DJing, I play whatever works for you and your crowd. Over the years I’ve learned how to read your crowd’s energy and keep the dance floor pumping. I love how DJing gives me the opportunity to share in one of the most memorable days of your life!
