Hi, I’m Nick Torres or better known as DJ Beatnick, and music has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. Growing up, I stayed up late listening to radio mix shows, completely fascinated by how DJs could create emotion and energy through music. Some of my earliest inspiration also came from wedding DJs, watching them bring people of all ages together on the dance floor. That’s where my passion for the craft truly began.
Ironically, those late-night mix shows that first inspired me eventually led to me becoming a featured mix show DJ on one of San Diego’s top radio stations. More than 15 years later, that same passion has taken me around the world, performing throughout the United States as well as in Mexico, China, Singapore, and Canada. Every event and every audience has reinforced one thing: great music has the power to bring people together.
Whether I’m creating an elegant soundtrack for your ceremony and cocktail hour, setting the perfect mood for a corporate event, or filling the dance floor at your reception, my goal is simple: to make your celebration feel effortless, personal, and unforgettable. I take the time to understand your vision, your favorite music, and the experience you want your guests to remember long after the night is over.
I’m very proficient in mixing most styles of music including timeless classics, soul, funk, disco, r&b, hip hop, house, & afrobeats. I’m also strong with Latin music having performed at many Latin events and clubs!
While I mix most sets on controllers with digital vinyl, for clients looking for something truly distinctive, I can offer a real vinyl only DJ set upgrade. Spinning records on turntables with actual records adds a warm, authentic touch that creates a memorable atmosphere unlike any other.
