Hi there, I’m DJ Kaleb Mafnas, although, it may be easiest to refer to me as ‘DJ K.’ I am privileged to have been born and raised in beautiful, sunny San Diego, California.
I attended Patrick Henry High School, graduating in the class of 2010, and participated in their football, wrestling, and track and field programs. Soon after I moved to Los Angeles, California to attend UCLA, where I studied law, logic, ethics, and metaphysics as a philosophy major until graduating in the class of 2015.
After graduation, I moved back to San Diego and was given the chance to work for Dancing DJ Productions, who I’ve now DJ’d hundreds of events for. In my free time, I enjoy making my own music, writing piano and guitar compositions, and producing my own experimental electronic and hip-hop beats. I love listening to wax vinyl records, and I have developed a huge appreciation for 60s, 70s, and 80s music, specifically funk music. I enjoy all genres and am well-versed in rock n’ roll, as well as hip-hop. Some of my favorite musical artists include Johnny Cash, Led Zeppelin, Santana, Sade, Roger & Zapp, The P-Funk, Nate Dogg, Erykah Badu, and Stevie Ray Vaughan.
Though I first learned music while in elementary school, I have been playing guitar for 12+ years, piano for 10+ years, and drums for 5+ years. In Los Angeles I was fortunate enough to meet some of my musically-inclined peers, building new friendships with audiophiles and learning from fellow music producers.
It suffices to say that music was my first and still is one of my main passions in life. I believe in the power of music, and I believe sharing that with others is fundamental. It would be my honor to join you in your celebration! I look forward to hearing from you soon!
