Katie and Kyle’s September Wedding at Horton Grand

With fall upon us, outdoor weddings aren’t quite as popular as indoor ones. But, this being San Diego, our weather is great year-round, so every outdoor wedding is enjoyable no matter the time of year. Katie and Kyle’s Horton Grand wedding downtown was no exception and very memorable.

New Orleans was the theme for the wedding, and the courtyard at the Horton Grand was the perfect setting. After the ceremony, the couple left the courtyard to “Happy Rag” a la New Orleans Square at Disneyland. The guests were ushered to the alleyway for cocktail hour while the hotel staff flipped the ceremony space for the reception. When the guests came back, they were treated to the beautifully decorated courtyard complete with the wedding cake inspired by the iron lacework found throughout the French Quarter.

Once the guests were settled, the wedding party made their grand entrance to “We Like to Party!” by Vengaboys, which was a great way to get the energy up in the room. From there, Katie and Kyle had their first dance to “Crazy Love” by Van Morrison, Kyle made a welcome speech and dinner was served.

After dinner and the traditional dances, the party went into full swing. We played a big variety of music for everyone, and people danced and sang along the whole night. It was a great celebratory atmosphere! When the night was coming to an end, everyone gathered around and sang “Wonderwall” by Oasis. It was great to see everyone come together.

It was a wonderful event, and we wish Katie and Kyle the very best on the new journey they’ve started together.

Katie and Kyle also gave us an awesome five-star review on WeddingWire. Thank you so much! Check it out below.

Will did an amazing job DJing our wedding last weekend! I’m still getting compliments on the music, and I can’t remember the last time I danced so much! I’m not a dancer, either, so that really says a lot.

The planning portal was really convenient to use during the year before our wedding, and it also gave us a lot of freedom to choose songs and playlists that were really about us. When I talked to Will the week before the wedding, he gave suggestions about moving some songs that might not be “dancy” enough for the dance portion of the wedding, which was really helpful since we’ve never had to plan an event that revolves so much around dancing.

Also, the best man mentioned something about Space Jam in his speech and Will played the Space Jam theme to transition to the next speaker. When I asked him if he worked that out with the best man beforehand, he said no and that he just thought it would be cool to throw in there—and it was!

It’s that kind of extra thought and attention that you want from a vendor when you’re planning a wedding.
